Mac Miller’s 3rd Studio Album Is Done

Mac Miller’s 3rd album will drop imminently.

Mac Miller announced today via a string of tweets that his 3rd studio album is finally finished.

Two days ago we broke down the long and winding road Miller took to piece together the album. Indeed, as he wrote today, it took him 9 different albums that will never see the light of day before he got what he wanted.

“I am now listening to the finished album for the first time and it was worth every step that was this journey,” he wrote. “Everything is happening exactly how it’s supposed to. You will hear soon. Very soon. I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. I’ve never felt this good about a project before.”

Read the tweets below and stay tuned for his 3rd studio album dropping imminently.

Kelly Rowland Joins The Cast Of “Empire

Kelly Rowland will appear in season two of “Empire.”

Fox drama “Empire” was aiming big for this next season, looking to get Eminem and Oprah on the show, but even if that doesn’t pan out, they’ll still have quite a stacked cast. In the past few weeks, they’ve announced that Chris Rock, Common, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, Chris Rock and Marisa Tomei will show up for Season 2, and now the most recent addition is Kelly Rowland. She should fit right in, seeing as she’s had to deal with the ins and outs of the industry since her childhood.

E! News reports that she’ll play Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard)’s mother in a flashback scene. Lyon was shown in flashback scenes quite frequently in Season 1, but it looks like we’ll be going even further back, all the way to his childhood, this time.

50 Cent & Jake Gyllenhaal Cover VIBE Magazine

50 Cent and Jake Gyllenhaal cover the new issue of VIBE.

After appearing on the Muscle & Fitness cover, 50 Cent puts his shirt back on and nabs another cover with “Southpaw” co-star Jake Gyllenhaal.

Fif has been busy promoting “Southpaw” with various daytime talk show appearances, but today he targets a different audience in “Southpaw” promotion, by covering the latest issue of VIBE magazine with Gyllenhaal. Take a look at the cover image and few photo shoot outtakes in the gallery above.

The interview finds the two going back and forth, as they discuss the upcoming film and more. Check out a few excerpts on that below.

“Southpaw” hits theatres on July 24th.

The movie is based on a lot of revenge because of what happened to your wife in the movie. Did you actually look at any revenge fights, like those famous rematches? What kind of fights were you looking at and did any stick out that you used for the film?
Jake: Well, that Ward [vs.] Gatti [2002] fight was a big one for us. I mean that was a fight that we referenced in the last fight of the film because that’s a fight of will, will, pure will. I don’t even know what that is at that point, but it’s something in a human being that you wish to know about yourself, but you never wish to know, do you know what I mean?

That was a big reference but at the same time, the last fight in particular is a fight about using anger but not using rage. Early in the movie, he’s a character who functions only on his rage–anger with violence–and throughout the movie, what he learns is how to use his anger, but without violence meaning he knows how to fight. He learns the techniques of fighting, how to box for real. With that knowledge, he can then when needed, like what 50 said when we talked to Floyd, he can then bring out that rage at times but not in a way that destroys his life.

Forest Whitaker character is poised. I think a lot of people will resonate with what he’s able to teach Billy.
Jake: When Forest’s character teaches Billy new techniques in the movie, he starts to tell him how to move his feet, use his feet, and slide. There’s a line where Billy says to him, ‘My wife would’ve liked you.’
50: At that point, it’s dawning on him. He’s telling me to slide my feet so I don’t get hit as much. It’s simplifying things. My grandfather, I made this reference earlier, he simplified his life. He said: ‘I’ma go to work and come home.’ They had so many kids. They’re from Aiken, South Carolina, had nine kids, and then he gave my grandmother the money. He just gave her a check. She took care of the bills. She took care of everything that was necessary for the kids and then come Monday, she’d give him money so he could go back and forth to work — and do what he needed to do. So it’s just simplifying things. It’s the same way Jake’s character is saying, ‘Let Maureen do it. That way I don’t mess it up.’ And then Maureen’s already training [Billy’s daughter], saying, ‘You know we have to look after your daddy,’ from the beginning.

Lil Wayne Cancels Show After Entourage Refuses To Get Searched

Lil wayne’s concert at The Venue in Minneapolis Sunday night was over before it started, as he cancelled the performance when his entourage refused to get searched by security. A pat down and walk through the metal detector is standard procedure at The Venue.

Weezy is currently in the middle of his “Sorry 4 The Wait Tour,” and concertgoers were understandably disappointed when they learned he wasn’t coming on.

The Venue released a statement regarding the matter. Read it in full and watch the local news report below:

On June 21, 2015, Lil Wayne was scheduled to perform at The Venue, a premier music and entertainment venue located on First Avenue in the heart of the Minneapolis entertainment district. Unfortunately, Lil Wayne elected not to perform after members of his entourage refused to take part in The Venue’s standard safety procedures.

In order to ensure the safety of the artists that perform on its stage, its patrons, and its staff members, The Venue has in place many long-standing standard safety procedures. One of these safety procedures is to conduct an exterior pat-down and metal detection on each person entering The Venue, and to confirm each party’s age and identity by requesting and reviewing a state-issued ID card. These safety procedures apply to customers and entertainers alike and are similar, if not identical, to safety standards and procedures utilized by clubs and arenas throughout the United States and the Twin Cities. These safety procedures are explained and provided to each performer in advance of any performance or concert that occurs at The Venue.

Last night, The Venue was honored to welcome world-renowned hip-hop star Lil Wayne to perform on its stage.

Upon his arrival, Lil Wayne was permitted entry into The Venue in order to perform. However, several members of his entourage refused to take part in The Venue’s standard safety procedures. In accordance with The Venue’s long-standing policies, those members that refused to follow The Venue’s safety procedures, and only those members, were refused entry into the club. Despite the fact that Lil Wayne was permitted entry, the stage was set up to his specifications, and he otherwise appeared ready to perform, he made the decision that he would not perform as scheduled.

The safety of its patrons, its performers, and its staff members is and continues to be the number one priority for The Venue. While The Venue regrets the artist’s decision not to perform, The Venue is not willing to bypass its security standards and jeopardize the safety of its patrons, performers, or staff members.

The Venue has or is in the process of issuing refunds to those patrons that purchased on-line tickets for Lil Wayne.

Slim The Mobster Back In Studio With Dr. Dre

Slim the Mobster was once a promising protege of Dr. Dre, before the rapper’s career was halted by a jail stint. Shortly after the rapper began working on his War Music follow-up, S.O.O.N. (Something Out Of Nothing), he was hauled off to jail on multiple charges.

After spending the last two years behind bars, Slim is once again a free man, and reunited with his former Aftermath labelhead, Dre. The rapper tweeted a photo from their studio session, confirming his prison release.

Cameras Likely Captured YG Shooting

Thankfully, friends of YG have asserted that the rapper is recovering well after being shot three times in the hip outside of a studio in the San Fernando Valley Friday morning. According to cops, the Bompton emcee is being “uncooperative” in helping them find the shooter, but new reports indicate that cops may have a lead through footage obtained from the studio.

TMZ’s sources allege that cameras captured both the shots, and a “fight” that broke out in the studio prior to the incident. The LAPD has requested the tapes, and they should have them within two days.

It’s not clear whether the events within the studio have anything to do with the shooting thereafter.

DJ Mustard just this morning confirmed that YG is recovering well. We’ll keep you posted with any new information
